A yard sale is not all bad however; it seems to bring the best out of neighbors around town if you include your kids. My son and his friend had a lemonade stand. People would give them tips which if you don’t know, encourages kids. The biggest tip they got was a twenty dollar bill for two lemonades from a young couple. If that couple is reading this, you know who you are and I just want to thank you for your generosity. I was out running an errand and my son called my cell to tell me. He was SO excited! I was quite impressed that a young couple whom later I was told had to be in their early twenties would be so kind. If any of my readers go to yard sales, please be generous to the kids. I can’t tell you how much that encourages them.
My eight year old son decided to sell his artwork. He got a box and wrote art work for sale. He sat on the ground and asked everyone who came by to buy his artwork. He had such things as; drawing, coloring, paintings, and paper snowflakes. The son who had the lemonade stand told him that he wouldn’t sell much which; I told him to apologize for … you know how siblings are if you have been blessed with kids. People bought his artwork. I think he was selling pieces for 50 cents. That was so very kind of the people here in Bismarck, ND. My son enjoys art and I have encouraged him that; if he wants to become an artist of some sort when he is older, continue doing art. I have encouraged all my kids to pursue their passions for a career when they get older. I do not want any of my kids to pursue money or power, just what they enjoy. If those passions lead to money or power, so be it but; I don’t want my kids to hate a career when they grow up. My son made around $15.00 selling his art! I am so grateful to all of you who bought his artwork, you have encouraged my son SO much and, showed my twelve year old son that he was wrong in his thinking. Again, if any of my readers go to yard sales and kids are selling their products, please be generous. Your generosity goes a long way in the developing mind of our kids. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It is wonderful to live in a community of caring generous people. This is how America should be all over the country. The people in the big cities who are selfish and mean, you should be ashamed of yourselves. What are you teaching your kids and this country? Make America better by starting with yourself. Become a caring kind person who is generous and not selfish. America can be a pleasant place to live and raise families if we each strive to be better individuals. ~b
