A company can advertise sexual products and alcohol on the TV in front of our kids and adults but, cannot advertise cigarettes. Why can my kids hear about Viagra and how wonderful it is to have an erection and, if I'm not mistaken, there is no blatant disclaimer that you must be 18 or 21 years old to use this product and...God forbid that you must be married to use this product.
Look how pretty and happy those horses are...drink beer and you too can have this freedom. Look at the pretty carefree ocean with a lime for seasoning...drink in the fresh air of warmth. Mommy, Daddy, can we go to the beach and ride the horses?
If this country really believes that smoking is so bad, why don't you just vote to make smoking illegal? People in parts of this country have already voted to outlaw talking on the phone and texting while driving. Wearing yoga pants in public is already being voted on and outlawed in some parts of our country. Some parts of our country have voted to make marijuana legal. If smoking cigarettes is so bad, just make it illegal. It is already illegal to discriminate and slander just about every person in this country except...the smoker.
I quit smoking on 2/7/15. I did not quit for any person in my life though, many have wanted me to. I did not quit because of the so called health risks. I did not quit because of the cost. I did not quit because the religious cult of the Quit Smoking Alter of Smoke advertises continually on radio and TV. I am in a bit of a personal protest against the trappings of this physical world. Smoking is just one aspect of my protest. As I told a friend of mine earlier this week, I am on a sabbatical journey towards stoic monkanism. I know monkanism is not a dictionary word, I freely make up words to express a thought. I don't know how long and how far I will carry this sabbatical but, right now I am in it for the rest of my life.
Just as a side note, I quit smoking cold turkey. I have been smoking roughly a pack and a half of cigarettes for many years. Basically, I think this, as with most things, if not everything in life comes down to the power of the mind. Will over Matter more or less. Now, is that to say that I wouldn't enjoy a smoke? You know my answer to that...absolutely not, I would enjoy a smoke however; my fight is more important and vital than the pleasures of this world at this moment in time and space.~b
