Howdy Y’all! I lived in Alabama for most of my life. We moved there when I was around 16 and I lived there mostly all of my life until 3.5+ years ago. We moved from Illinois. I did live in Georgia and Texas for a couple years when I was between 18 and 21. Alabama is kind of like apple pie thoughts to me. I never added y’all to my vocabulary, it was always ‘you guys’ whether you were girls or boys. I did develop a southern accent which still spices up my speech as North Dakotan's would tell you.
A friend of mine here sent me this video from YouTube. Below is another video I watched which brought back some fond memories for me. I really consider myself a redneck though I don’t do many redneck activities these days like I used to. I do not consider the term redneck as racist or derogatory. I think our culture puts too much emotion into some of our descriptive words. I don’t go around saying I’m a redneck but, if someone calls me a redneck I take pride in the description. My roots are firmly planted into the red clay care free lifestyle.
This fellow in the video seems like a very fun individual. He probably gets pumped up about more than storms. I actually have southern friends who act like this guy back in Bama. I would have no problem being a neighbor to this man. How fun simple joys would be listening to this guy on a porch swing sipping sweet tea! There would be no reason for TV let me tell you! I bet this guy would be more than willing to help a good neighbor fix things around the house and also bless you with entertainment from his mind.
I remember going ‘muddin’ with guys and girls in Alabama. We would take trails in the woods, drink beer, get stuck in a bog, and just have a good ol’ time. The redneck folks are down to earth types who enjoy a good time. Let me tell you, some of the redneck girls are very pretty as well however; don’t do them wrong or you might end up with a black eye! LOL Those girls can take care of themselves and can meet a city slicker at the door with a shotgun.
I know many of you are laughing and I am glad I brought a smile to your face. BTW, some rednecks have money just so you know, those 4 wheel drive trucks and toys cost a lot of money.
I enjoyed watching my fellow rednecks in these videos, it brought back some long ago memories. ~b
