Back when I was 22 years old, I lived in the Atlanta, GA area. I lived there for a year of my life. One job I had was with Granton Enterprises. I was a door to door salesman. I sold these discount cards to restaurants, comedy clubs, etc. It was an advertising thing. Anyway, I was paid on commission only so some days were good and others not. It was an enjoyable job because at the office we always had these high energy encouraging times.
One day out walking in a neighborhood I knocked on a door and an older type man answered. He and a few of his friends were about to go out in his back yard and sit in a Jacuzzi. He had a pool also out back. This gentleman said he doesn’t think he would be interested in buying a card but, invited me to join him and his friends in the Jacuzzi. I didn’t have a bathing suit and I was supposed to be working. It was a hot day and the man offered to let me use one of his bathing suits so I said, what the hell, sounds good.
I went into this stranger’s nice house, changed into trunks in a room and joined the men in the Jacuzzi where we drank beer, talked, and laughed for a couple hours. I have always thought that was an odd blessing of fun and fondly recall how nice that was of total strangers to invite me to join in the pleasure of a Jacuzzi and good company.
I hope those men have had an enjoyable life and appreciate them for being nice to a door to door salesman. I find that this memory is enjoyable and odd and I am glad I have it. Enjoy your day friends. ~b
