My family and I got back from a week-long vacation Saturday. It has to have been over a decade since I went on a real vacation. My family has went on many vacations in the past and I stayed home and worked. I must admit, weeks before I went on this vacation, I felt nervous and actually felt like it was wrong somehow to take a vacation. I know that sounds odd to most people, especially those who go on regular vacations but that is how I felt. It was a new experience for me and that is perhaps why I felt a foreboding of sorts.
We spent the week in Rapid City, SD. Once we got there and started going to the attractions and activities I felt good about the vacation. It was a pleasant time. There is so much to do around Rapid City and we did not do it all. Every day we did something at a leisurely pace. Sometimes the whole day was spent doing one activity and sometimes we did a few activities. We went to bed when we wanted to and got up when we were ready. I did not want my first vacation for some time now to be work. I wanted it to flow naturally. We rented a house downtown Rapid City instead of renting a hotel. With a family of six this seemed the best choice. It was nice to be in a neighborhood although, staying at a hotel with a hot breakfast downstairs might have been a better choice in hindsight but nevertheless, it was a good experience.
The pictures included with this post is of my four children from left to right. The child on the far right was just another kid as are the children in the background. This was one of our days where we spent the whole day at an indoor water park. We enjoyed the adventure. Later this week, I will post more of my vacation pictures on this website. I will post it on Graffiti Bridge which is located under the ‘more’ tab at the top right side of this page. If you would like to see more pictures check back later this week.
I must say that; I plan on taking at least one good vacation every year now. It is time well spent while painting memories. Hugs to you all … ~b
I am 45 years old, married, and have 4 children. I dream as a child and think as an adult. I try to enjoy every day along this journey.
